Meditation Retreat Health Warning

Meditation Retreat Health Warning

This is a health warning for attending both online and onsite (in person) retreats.  Mindfulness and meditation can be enormously beneficial for our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. However, just as any powerful healing approach can have side effects and contraindications, so too can mindfulness and meditation.  Regardless of whether a practitioner is new to meditation or is experienced, sometimes mindfulness and meditation can trigger untoward side effects. These practices have the power to uncover what we may prefer to forget or stir up unwanted reactions. Please take care of yourself. Suggestions for caring for yourself will be made as we proceed through the retreat.  The meditation instructions or the suggestions are not a substitute for personal therapy. If you are experiencing any negative side effects from meditation, stop or reduce the practice you are doing and let the facilitators know. In addition if you are attending online, speak to a support person close to where you are or a mental health professional. If you have a history of mental health vulnerability, you should consult with a mental health professional before engaging with the retreat and practices.  If they do not support you coming on retreat, you should follow their recommendations and withdraw and you will be provided with a full refund. We trust you appreciate reading these meditation retreat health warnings and look forward to seeing you online.
