Who are these workshops for?
These workshops are suitable for anyone, lay or professional, who aspires towards the above aims. Previous experience with meditation with an understanding of mindfulness is a requirement to join this course. This course will be suitable for those experiencing milder forms of stress, anxiety and depression. The course would also be helpful for therapists, educators and programme leaders wishing to broaden their skills and understanding. Given the online nature of this course, it would not be suitable for those with psychiatric conditions who may need acute care.
Format: The sessions will include meditation training and practice, power point presentations, experiential exercises, small group (breakout room) and large group (gallery view) discussion, optional movements and home practices. We will have a break for about 10 minutes in the middle of each session.
Trainer: Mal is a clinical psychologist in private practice based in Lismore NSW. He has been a Buddhist meditation practitioner for nearly 45 years, including two years as a Buddhist monk in Thailand in the 1970s. He has taught mindfulness and related practices such as loving kindness and compassion in Australia and overseas to clinical populations, the public and professionals since 1991. He has trained in a range of contemporary mindfulness and compassion based therapies and written and conducted many mindfulness and related practices courses and workshops. Fee for course:
The general fee is $360 + 4% booking fee for the 6 session course. For those experiencing financial disadvantage the fee is $210 + 4% booking fee for the 6 session course. If one has also registered for the the healing the heart-mind with insight course there is a 16% discount off these fees. Options are available for those who are experiencing financial hardship.
